About 4,000 pounds of Wegmans Mashed Sweet Potatoes have been recalled from the company's stores after consumers reported finding foreign objects in the product.
The recall affects stores in the Rochester area and upstate New York as well as Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland and Massachusetts. No injuries have been reported. Orval Kent Foods, which manufactures the product, is carrying out the recall.
The recall applies only to Wegmans Mashed Sweet Potatoes 24 oz. with the lot code "Use by Nov 18 11 DSA" and sold between Sept. 22 and Nov. 9, 2011. No other lot codes are affected.
Four consumers reported finding white plastic pieces in the item, which is sold in 24-ounce sealed plastic trays with a wrap-around sleeve. They are sold in the dairy section.
