NIAGARA FALLS, NY - Construction at the Niagara Falls International Airport is forcing Spirit Airlines to cancel some of its flights from Niagara Falls to Myrtle Beach and Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Spirit Airlines flights between Niagara Falls and Myrtle Beach are cancelled from May 15 to June 20, 2012, and flights between Niagara Falls and Fort Lauderdale are cancelled from May 15 to June 30, 2012.
"We apologize for the inconvenience that this causes our customers and we look forward to resuming our Niagara Falls service as soon as the runway construction project is complete," says Spirit's Vice President of Airport Services Jake Filene.
However, on Wednesday, Spirit announced it will add an additional flight each week to Myrtle Beach, but at the same time, it will be changing all Saturday flights to Sundays.
We were alerted to the change by a Channel 2 staffer, who got an email about his June 30th flight, after he had already booked a condo and rented a car, which he said has been difficult, if not impossible to change.
Spirit officials say they are contacting all customers with reservations to and from Niagara Falls during the construction project. They will be given a full refund, as well as a $100 future travel voucher.
Customers may also choose to change their reservation to a different Spirit city within the United States.
